Chris Lonie

Instead of pursuing a career in the City, and against all advice, I decided that the world of advertising was my calling. As a Creative Director with 25 years of inspiring consumers, pleasing clients and winning awards; these are a few of the highlights that helped me get here.

  • A few years after starting my career as a classic above-the-line copywriter, I joined Craik Jones; London’s most talked about and awarded integrated agency. I won them their first D&AD.
  • Excited by all things new, I fully embraced digital when it exploded into the world of communications. I joined Wheel (now Digitas) in 2001 as Creative Director with responsibility for a 28-strong creative department.
  • For three years I ran my own brand-experience agency, Marmaduke Grimwig. Clients included 21st Century Fox, Welcome Break, The League against Cruel Sports, Bombay Sapphire, Ibis Hotels and Better Together (the organisation that campaigned against Scottish Independence).
  • As Creative Partner at Ogilvy, I was responsible for all creative output on British Gas, the agency’s third largest account.
  • Recently I have been working direct to clients, such as YO!Sushi and NewVoiceMedia – a global tech business selling cloud-based technology solutions.
  • Awards include DMA Grand Prix, IPA Advertising Effectiveness, D&AD, Cannes, Scottish advertising Awards, MCCA and Caples.
